THE STOCKPORT PYRAMID

The Stockport Pyramid by Maxwell Hutchinson

What is the Stockport Pyramid? Nestled beside the formidable Stockport Viaduct sits a curious 1980s / 90s-style blue glass pyramid.

from the Wikipedia article on Stockport:

"Beside the M60 motorway is the Stockport Pyramid, a distinctive structure designed by Maxwell Hutchinson. It has a steel frame covered with mostly blue glass and clear glass paneling at the apex and was intended to be the signature building for a much larger development planned in 1987. Construction began in the early 1990s and it was completed in 1992 but an economic downturn caused the project to be abandoned as the developers went into administration. The building lay empty until 1995 when The Co-operative Bankrepossessed it and opened it as a call centre."
