Constance Rea - Ladies of Quality c 1910-12

I find this painting exceptional. Constance Rea uses loose brush stokes effectively in the portrayal of a beautiful scene.

The overall effect is subdued owing to muted colors. She appears to have used the same model in four different dresses. The background is very loosely painted in nebulous washes of green-gray.

Constance (Halford) Rea was the wife of artist Cecil Rea.

It's quite a soothing piece. I think it benefits from its era of creation - the beautiful end of the Belle Époque.

Following are detail images for reference.  The painting is unfortunately behind shiny glass.
